Giant Step presents Simply Good Music
July 28th, 2004 by Rachelandthecity

The Giant Step crew from New York has made a name for itself through unforgettable dance parties as well as through marketing acts that fall just below the radar of mainstream soul and jazz. The new compilation rounds up a number of acts whom Giant Step has released on its own label or promoted and distributed to the U.S. market. Whether it’s the gorgeous future-funk of West London supergroup DKD with Donnie on “We Can Make It,” the analog soul of Detroit’s Amp Fiddler, or the Santana-like RSL (”Wesley Music”), Giant Step’s motto covers it all: Simply good music.

Mea culpa. It’s up there now: sexy, slinky broken beat. Streamload was having some serious herpes yesterday. If you’re in Memphis, check me out at Swig tonight; i’ll be sitting in with DJ Dave Gass, dropping a lot of music like this. Peace.
