Deep Throat - Blowin’ Bubbles

September 24th, 2004 by Rachelandthecity

Believe it or not, this is one of the more infamous soundtracks of all time. You’ve all heard of the movie, to be sure. Many of you have seen it. “Deep Throat” is likely the most famous film from the golden age of porn. It ushered an era of socially acceptable, high-quality porn (though, on its own, Deep Throat is not such a good example, but it’s a great drunken party gross-out curiosity). The beginning of porn’s heyday was not all Dirk Digglers, good Cocaine and Orange Corvettes, however. There were battles to be fought with the federal government (unsurprisingly, they weren’t so fond of the whole publiclicly accessible and legal porn idea). Deep Throat was the focal point of porn’s legalization and a sizable witch hunt. The FBI attempted to confiscate all copies of the film and its soundtrack (which came to be given away at Deep Throat’s massive public screenings). They were more successful with the soundtrack, and original copies became quite rare (I once bowed out of an ebay auction at $70, hoorah for reissues.). The album had no liner notes, and it was contraband, so to speak. All of the composers/musicians are unknown. Here it is in all its lo-fi, dirty funk, hairy-anal-sex glory.
