Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

This song has very little to do with the movie for me, but it’s on a soundtrack, so what the hell. It’s a good thing I’ve never claimed to be cool, otherwise it might be a little hard to share this song with you. I don’t know if you are aware of this but Survivor are from Memphis and when I was in 4th grade my best friend’s dad was their manager. One of the guys in the band actually lived with him and my girlfriend and I would go and spend weekends at his house sometimes. This was my first experience seeing the rock n roll lifestyle. No, they weren’t having orgies or shooting up (at least not while I was there) but they had tons of musical equipment and long hair and I thought they were what was considered cool. And when I was 8 and saw Jimi Jamison on MTV, it felt really cool to have spoken to him in real life.

   You were going away for the weekend with your girlfriend in the 4th grade? And spending them at a rockstar’s house!?! wow, you must have been very mature for your age………. and your parents must have really sensed that….

   My girlfriend, as in my best friend, who was also 8 - yes I would spend the weekend at her house sometimes.

   And yeah, I think they might still play this at Tiger games too!
