Four Tet - As Serious As Your Life

October 27th, 2004 by Rachelandthecity

Rachel mentioned Four Tet in her Kings of Convenience post a couple of days ago, so I thought I’d bust out the single from the 2003 album “Rounds.” I don’t know a whole lot about Four Tet, but I do know that it is a project by a dude named Kieran Hebden who combines cut-and-paste laptop techniques (think Aphex Twin, or Forss if you’re nasty) with familiar folk and indie-rock guitar sounds. This is really nice downtempo stuff with substance to it; great for the bedroom or for the open-eared lounge scene. Don’t miss the 12-inch, with a hot remix courtesy of J Dilla aka Jay Dee.

I am quite the fan of Four Tet - his approach to music leaves me great reason to smile, groove, shimmy, chill, etc, etc. If ya really dig this guy, Mark, I’d be more than happy to share my little collection of remixes that he has done - I have found 23 to date - and most of them are pretty damned amazing.

    Here’s a TASTE
