What can I say about Yoshie? Emotion - at it’s purest. Of course this is coming from a person who speaks not word one of Japanese (are you seeing a pattern here?). One does not need to understand the words being used in this short, but heavenly, EP, De Novo (1999). Each song takes you in places all to familiar in the various corners of your mind. The sinserity behind Saudosismo with it’s lazy-n-light acoustic beach, the mondo playfulness of high-end shopping of Com N (complete with Hammond, thank you), the joy of childhood - and the strenght of wisdom and experience. Of course this is what me and my experience get out of Yoshie. A breath of fresh air. The EP is rich in organics, with wise does of horns and the suprising charm of accordians. He pulls from various areas of the world in a blend that sounds like it was always meant to be. Yeah, I really hope that he has more creative output soon. This four song heart-catcher andf his other 3 piece Ep, Idoratria, leaves the heart aching for more.

So i look above at that sappy crap that I have just written and said “geez, with age does come cheese!”. SO I’ll pause, if not cease, in my ramblings about how this music makes me feel and get to the ones who are responsible for it. Yoshie is the project of musician / intrumentalists Masahiro Itami, Osamu Matsumoto, Daisuke Kawai and the drippingly innocent voice of Yoshie. Yoishe gets around in the Shibuya scene a good bit - worked with Chocolat once. She seems to be more known for producing electronica pieces, so the afore mention EP’s is a very mature apporach for her. And it is also something the my valued readers should not only run out and buy, but should be sure to take out anybody that gets in your way to do so - your inner-self with thank you. Oh and if this turns your ears in a pleasant way - ya really oughta check out Shugo Tokumaru
