Ardent Sessions: What Made Milwaukee Famous

Andrew Bird - A Nervous Tic Motion Of The Head To The Left

May 24th, 2005 by Rachelandthecity

So, I’m sitting here in my house, missing the Built To Spill show cause I was supposed to be someone’s plus one but got home late and lost my spot. It’s cool though, I heard a bunch of people were passing out from the heat. Anyway, I’m sitting here trying to think of who to make a post about. I haven’t heard very much to be excited about lately. So, I surf over to Abby’s blog and she mentions the Andrew Bird show at The Hi-Tone on June 2nd and I remember having a conversation with my friend Greg about how great he is. Bird’s a combination of songwriter, violinist, guitarist, vocalist and professional whistler. And he’s on Righteous Babe, Ani Difranco’s label, so he has to be awesome! He just finished up touring with her in February and word is: It’s a show not to be missed!

So there you go. The New York Times calls him, “Folky, Beatles-tinged melodies meet wild ideas . . . making music as surreal as his words.” So check him out in a city near you.
