Dressy Bessy - Side Two

May 31st, 2005 by Rachelandthecity

If John Hill of Apples in Stereo fame (remember when they did the theme song for The PowerPuff Girls?) had a girlfriend that sang 60’s influenced ultra-pop, it would sound just like Tammy Ealom of Dressy Bessy. Hey, wait a minute, that is his girlfriend! And he’s the guitarist. What a coincidence!

The Denver based foursome named after the classic doll is also part of the infamous Elephant 6 collective and have been making music since 1997. The former twee darlings’ new record Electrified is set for release on June 14th. They’ve turned up the guitars and made a record full of catchy, sing-a-long pop songs. They’re songs that make you wanna drive around with the top down on your convertible while you bop along in the driver’s seat.

They’ll be kicking off their tour with a CD release party at The Gothic Theater in Denver and then moving across the west coast with an east coast tour to follow in July. Hey Dressy Bessy, how bout showin’ the south a lil’ love?
