Stream The New White Stripes Album "Get Behind Me Satan"
Oh, you inimitable White Stripes, always flipping the script on people. I’m going to let the jury decide what to do with Meg & Jack White this time. If it were left up to me, I’d invite them over to my house to sit around and play some kick ass ’60s and ’70s soul records while we chat it up over cocktails and a nice game of Chutes and Ladders. When I listen to Get Behind Me Satan, it reminds me more of bands like the The Carter Family, The Walker Brothers and Dusty Springfield than the White Stripes. Personally I can live with that, and it is my hope that everyone else listening can, too. I smell a dividing line in process on this record, but to me this one is so damn good you can take whichever side you want. The use of tacky piano, unusual crunchy guitar tracks, vibes, banjos, and even Meg herself singing makes me thankful they’re not just doing the same-old same-old. Here’s to expanding one’s musical horizons. For right now, I’m going to go make Mint Juleps for the three of us, you folks have a listen to the record by clicking here and tell us what you think.
PSST: Stream is back. Tell your mammanem.
