52 Teenagers - Please Don’t Turn Out The Light
I’ve been overthinking things for a hot minute. I haven’t been inspired, I haven’t been searching out anything new. When you listen to as much music as I do, sometimes everything starts to sound the same. So, I hit a dry spot. Today, I’m happy to say that I came out of it. Lucky for you.
I became intrigued with the unsigned Manchester band 52 Teenagers when I came across a live show review that descibed them as Placebo as sung by Damien Rice. Truthfully, I have no idea what Placebo sounds like, but the Damien Rice reference definitely intrigued me. With a little searching, I was able to come across the entire album online, which is the only way you can hear it since it is not currently offered for sale. I’m not sure if the comparison was accurate, but hey, it got my attention and I don’t regret the find. If you have ever wondered what exactly emocore is, well, here’s your answer.
Anywho, One For The Restless pretty much screams hit all over it. It’s a blend of lush melodic ballads and straight forward radio rock. All that these guys need is a video on MTV and they’re destined to end up on the walls of teenagers everywhere.
