Ardent Sessions: John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives

Mark de Clive-Lowe - Slide

June 18th, 2005 by Rachelandthecity

We don’t usually post on weekends, but I’m making an exception this time. Although I’ve been harping on Mark de Clive-Lowe for years, I never got around to posting a track from the New Zealand-born keyboard whiz’s latest album, “Tide’s Arising.” Enjoy “Slide,” one of the advance tracks off the album. It’s a posse cut of sorts, featuring shout vocals by Bembe Segue, Abdul Shyllon and Lyric L, along with the elegant analog synths and clattering rhythms that define the West London sound.

It just so happens that de Clive-Lowe is in the States this weekend, following up on a Friday night appearance at Bossanova Club in Santa Monica with a show Sunday at Mighty in San Francisco and another Monday night at Joe’s Pub in New York.

Unfortunately, these are just DJ spots, not live performances, but you can catch Mashi leading his fully improvisational Free Soul Sessions over Labor Day weekend when he appears at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Atlanta.

Don’t miss catching one of the hottest acts from the global urban scene!
