Nas - Don’t Body Ya Self

Some shit has gone down between former collaborators Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Nas Escobar that has been the basis of yet another hip-hop feud. These motherfuckers do not like each other. Nas, one of the longtime undisputed grand wizards of hip-hop, a man whose cipher runs so deep it can hardly be calculated in mere words, has been the receptor of 50’s disrepect since Nas remixed a J-Lo track. On his latest album, 50 Cent delivers the track “Piggy Bank” and, in no uncertain terms, serves up a diss to Nas and his new wife Kelis that could not be overlooksed.
Kelis said her “Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard”
Then Nas went, and tattooed the bitch on his arm
Nas, for his part, has up until now not bothered to deliver a response track (though Jadakiss and Fat Joe have, and in a seperate feud The Game, who also took a couple of bad ones from 50, have all recorded responses). “To sum it all up, 50 is still a new artist,” Nas told MTV News back in March. “I would say he’s got a good five to six more albums before I can really respond to him. With my other battles, it was different. This is not really my thing right here. I would say he needs about five to six more albums.”
Then yesterday, in my hands, the heat of this bomb dropped to spread fire over the hip hop world from a man I could only describe as “the man who delivered the fucking illest rap I have ever heard to this day” in “N.Y. State of Mind”, considered by many to be the greatest hip hop track of all time. Take a listen to “Don’t Body Ya Self”, and then remember why real hip hop is from the streets, delivering a message that is received even before it hits your ears.
