Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To

August 22nd, 2005 by Rachelandthecity

Even though we’ve been around for over a year now, with this post I feel like we’ve come full circle. The first Franz Ferdinand record was huge for me in terms of re-awakening my love for music. I don’t know about you, but I kind of lost interest during the Britney-Christina wars. The very first post I made on this site was a Scissor Sisters cover of Take Me Out. Although I could be wrong, and I am way too lazy to research it, I think this is the first repeat post here, excluding repeat posts made when we’ve forgotten to check the archives and posts about non-current albums.

On a separate note, wanna know a secret? Most of the older more established MP3 bloggers get albums from the same PR companies. I know this because I’ll get a package in the mail, and it seems before I’ve even opened it, accolades for those records pop up all over the interweb on MP3 sites. I know everyone acts like they’re all clued into the newest records coming out, but we’re getting help. The only problem that I have with it is that it seems some sites promote things based on being first rather than it being great. I pass up writing about songs sometimes because I’ve seen posts about it on 3 different sites. Plus, I like to really listen to the songs and determine if I like them before I post anything, so sometimes it’s weeks after I get a record before I write about it. It’s really annoying when you read about the same bands over and over again. But I guess that’s the definition of hype, huh?

We have recieved some negative feedback from some readers because we do post some popular bands, but my conscience is clear, for the most part, I never write about anything unless I really love it. And if I do I ususally let you know why.

Thanks for reading my rambling. Now download the latest from Franz Ferdinand
