This Italian/Danish (Alex Puddu & Morten Varano) have a thing about genre jumping - not from album to album, but on one album. “Star 70″ is deep in it’s funk, skillful with it’s grooves and infectious in everything else. Puddu Varano cover disco, house, Drum n’ Bass, some deep ass soul, and no small amount of latin and rock - kind of a one-stop shop for all your groove needs.

They have a good amount of other material to buy/listen to, but if you buy one album of theirs this is the one.

The two have gone their sperate ways - one staying with the name Varano, the other taking on the persona Alex Puddu & The Butterfly Collectors. Shame they didn’t stay together as their seperate projects don’t have half the weight of the duo’s creativity.

Morten Varano also collaborates with DJ Ramon Santana under the name Los Chicharrons. (will post on this project soon as it is a must to share!)
