Ardent Sessions: What Made Milwaukee Famous

Chris Joss - The Gnomes

December 1st, 2005 by Rachelandthecity

Need some deep-a-fied funk? Chris Joss is your frenchman. Like the missing soundtrack to a 60’s TV show, Dr Rhythm (Irma, 2002) has upped the ante for electro-funk. Inpired by the likes of Quincy Jones and Laurie Johnson, Chris has mad production skill, musicality and originality. He manages to create atmosphere and ambience whilst sucking you into infectious grooves that resonate in sonic quality. The album is thick with live, rich instrumentation all masterfully played by Chris himself.

Completely self-taught multi-instrumentalist and autonomous studio producer, he is not exactly a newcomer to the global music scene. Having lived in both Paris and London in the early nineties, Joss digested the vibrant music scenes of each city while working as a sound engineer and playing with several bands.
