Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bleh. I want to be the first person to be completely wrong about all the Guns N’ Roses hype that has swirled around the last ten years. Secretly, sure. I love G’N'F’n'R, and I have been heinously vocal about how Axl could never, ever, not in a million fucking years come back. I watched as all that good money he made in the GNR heyday went to psychotherapy, facing down the demons that created the person we all know as Axl Rose to become the sheltered idol that we all fear our heroes will become. I watched (as did all of you) as the revolving door of Guns n’ Roses players grew increasingly tiresome. Now, I’m hearing that after ten years and more money than any of us may ever see in our lifetimes, Chinese Democracy will be released next month. And the leak of these two tracks gives us a peek into the future that, pleasantly, gives us a look into the past as well. I want Chinese Democracy to blow all known records for album sales, to beat the odds and become a classic of rock and roll so furious as to make it a turning point in history.
I don’t know if it’s gonna even come close to that, but I like these songs. “Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been wrong/Wouldn’t be the last time sure I’m gone,” he sings. Yeah. Okay. Go on, Axl. Go ahead Ax, go head, get down.
