Ardent Sessions: What Made Milwaukee Famous

Jock - Swingin Hands

I am back from my BloggersinAmsterdam trip and am totally reinvigorated. You can read about my adventures here. I have lots of great music to tell you about, not from Europe but right here in Tennessee. Even if you haven’t heard of the bands I plan to write about over the next few days, I highly suggest that you take a listen. Memphis is a hotbed of awesome sounds right now. Did someone say the new Glasgow?

I’m kicking things off with Esque bassist Basil Bayne Whatley’s side project JOCK. I have a million stories about adventures Bayne and I have had, but they’re all on a strict need-to-know basis. Bayne is planning a move to NYC at the end of this month. I have no doubt he’ll be the toast of the town by summer. Bayne is an accomplished graphic designer and made these “demos” in his living room, er, studio. He’s a pretty talented guy, but ladies beware, when Bayne sings in Waiting Room that he’s easy to please, he’s totally lying!! Anyway, check out these two tracks and some pics form the last Esque show at The Hi-tone.
