One of the things that sets Memphis apart from other cities is it’s level of authenticity. Sure, other cities boast good music scenes, but you won’t find a place with more variety from authentic sources. Almost any night of the week you can see a rap, hip-hop, blues, garage rock, indie, or alt-country show from a top-notch act.

One of our underground music secrets has been growing by leaps and bounds. While most acts at SXSW begged for a chance to be included, Goner Records was propositioned to bring a showcase to Austin. This ain’t your hipster cousin’s rock and roll show. It’s sweaty and rude and no one’s wearing $200 sneakers or carrying an Ipod. It ain’t art school rock, it’s I-just-got-out-of-jail-and-need-to-let-off-some-steam-rock.

This preview is for the Gonerfest 2: Electric Goneroo due in stores in the fall.

You can interact with these crazy mutherfuckers here.

Here’s the story I wrote about the Goner Showcase at SXSW.
