Wanna know a secret? I think I’ve listened to The Arcade Fire album once. Yep, once. I have probably heard one song by Bloc Party, and I think it was a remix. I haven’t heard the new record from the Strokes yet. I don’t kneel at the alter of Stereogum. I’m sure it’s all great stuff, but I tend to veer away from stuff when I see it getting a blogger blow job.

However, Chris from GvB introduced me to Tapes ‘n Tapes at SXSW. Not their music, but the actual band. I was immediately drawn to the drummer becasue he looks so much like Jake Vest from Augustine. Anyway, even though I know they are becoming the next over-hyped internet band, they were really cool guys, even though I think I slurred all over them. So, when I got back to Memphis I took the time to check out their 2005 album The Loon. It’s all I’ve been listening to for the past week. It’s like a mixture of Modest Mouse, the Pixies and Pavement. It’s really good stuff and these guys totally deserve to be overhyped!!!
