Ardent Sessions: John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives

New Decemberists - Summersong MP3

August 30th, 2006 by Rachelandthecity

The Crane Wife is the upcoming album by The Decemberists, currently slated to be released on October 3, 2006. It was produced by Tucker Martine and Chris Walla, and will be the band’s first album on the Capitol Records label. An apparently unfinished version of “The Island” was played and briefly streamed on KEXP by Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger fame, but has since been taken down. Other than that and live versions of “O Valencia”, “Summersong” and “Shankhill Butchers”, none of the songs have yet been officially released. The album was inspired by a Japanese folk tale, and will center around two song cycles, The Crane Wife and The Island.

The album was leaked on to filesharing networks on Sunday, August 13, 2006.

From Colin’s Blog:

My Five Band Name Suggestions For Christopher Walla. By Colin.

1. Ever Has It Grown on the Tombs of My Forebears
2. Poppycock
3. Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins
4. Jonathan Livingston Screwdriver
5. Your Large Flushing Toilets Are Destroying Our Way of Life

(..5 is a cheat, because I think it was at one point a real band, but it probably would be legit to use it in some form. Maybe: Your Large Flushing Toilets Are Destroying Our Way of Life UK?)

Everyone buy the new My Brightest Diamond Record!!!
