Jeff Hulett’s Best Shows of 2007

December 29th, 2007 by Rachelandthecity

Jeff is a multi-instrumentalist who plays in like 80 bands like Snowlobe, The Harmony Brothers, Jeffrey James and the Haul, and Billy Badass and the Bunsen Burners. Oh yeah, he’s also one of he nicest guys on the planet.

Jeff’s List

1. Rock for Love- a benefit for the Church Health Center
This show featured so many different artists ranging from Third Man to Pezz and the Subteens to Jump Back Jake. There was a photo area to get pictures with Lord T and Rachel and an awesome silent auction. The local scene really came together for a good cause and put all differences musically aside. The show raised upwards of 7 grand. Wow!!!!!

2. Jeff Tweedy at GPAC was awesome not just because Tweedy played some awesome acoustic versions of old faves, but because he was hilarious, cracking wise all nite. Greg Koch (the Wilco drummer) opened with this awesome modern classical drum deal where he even covered a Steve Reich piece. Hell yes it was a good show and by the way if you ever go to GPAC for a show go to Sekura on West Street for dinner. It has amazing sushi for true.

3. Vending Machine and the Secret Service the nite before thanksgiving was an awesome way to kick off the holidays. Robby writes some amazing songs and Argroves and Barnett are just spoiling us every time they play together. Secret Service as always delivered the goods.

4. Any One-Four-Fives show whether it be at the Buc or the Blue Monkey- what a line up. John Paul Keith and the boys give new meaning to getting your money’s worth.

5. Cooper Young Fest was pretty great this year- got to see Antenna Shoes doing there thing and then I saw Arma Secreta at Two Chicks doing this two piece thing. They covered I’m on Fire by the boss, but Chris Wark was playing drums and bass at the same time while Brad was bringing it only the way Bruce can. Lucero closed things out and played some old ones I haven’t heard in awhile. It’s hard to see Lucero at a club these days, but because it was outside you had room to breath and heckle and really enjoy it. Look for Ben’s side project Secret Tissues this Spring.
